A member asked:

Last winter i had a cold. since then, my left ear has mucus stuck behind the ear drum. will this heal or will i have to painfully get it sucked out?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Possibly: The resolution of fluid/mucus behind the ear drum can take some time. The rule of thumb is 70% resolve after 30 days, 80% in 60 days, and 90% in 90 days. If the fluid/mucus is present beyond that, you may need some help with a myringotomy (where the ear drum is incised).
