Somewhat: In order to remove the nail, the surgeon will most likely perform a ring block ( numbing with lidocaine). That is the most painful part of the procedure since there is a needle involved. You shouldn't feel the nail removal itself. I bet you are experiencing pain from the pyogenic granuloma, so you are going to be happy to have it removed. It takes 5-6 mos for the nail to regrow.
