Possible heart dz.: It depends on how high the triglycerides are. Triglycerides in the 1000s put patients at very high risk for pancreatitis. Triglycerides in the 200-400 (or so) range have been linked to heart attacks. Depending on how high triglycerides are, medicines or lifestyle changes (healthy eating) may be needed. One important thing to note is diabetes or hypothyroidism can cause high triglycerides.
