Epistaxis: The main cause is dryness of mucosa on the septum. This can be treated by applying vaseline once or twice a day. This is made worst by aging because the membranes get thinner with age and thus can breakdown more easily by dryness.

Nasal bleeding: Nasal bleeding or epistaxis is usually caused by blood vessels irritated on the nasal septum lining but should be evaluated by an ENT to be sure no other cause of nasal bleeding is present. Moisture with saline gels will likely take care of the problem if it is mild septal dryness or irritation.
