What is the best treatment for pencreatitis? what precautions should a person having pencreatitis take?

Serious illness: Pancreatitis is a life-threatening illness that is treated in the hospital: patients are given IV fluids and sometimes medicines by iv, including pain meds as pancreatitis is very painful. With chronic pancreatitis (not in the hospital), take all your meds, avoid all alcohol and do not drink any liquids with over 5 cal per serving. Also avoid sweets, simple carbs, & high fat foods (ice cream).
