Allergic reaction: Most likely you experienced an allergic reaction to cantaloupe. Food allergies can cause itching anywhere on the body. You could do the experiment of eating a cantaloupe again to see if the itchy was truly related to ingestion (perhaps the safer approach would be for an allergist to test you). The safest approach would be to avoid cantaloupe completely in the future.
