Potassium: Potassium deficiency is caused by HCTZ (hydrochlorothiazide) diuretic, which you take. If you have aldosterone excess, you will be potassium deficient also. Ask your doctor to check serum aldosterone level. HCT is promoting potassium loss. Low potassium causes muscle weakness and cramps and cardiac rhythm disturbances.
