Dehydrated or UTI: If you get dehydrated, your body's response is to concentrate your urine more in to preserve water. This can make it smell strong. Drinking more water will reverse it. A urinary tract infection (UTI) can also change the odor. You may also have burning or pain, frequent urges, fever, or back pain with a uti. If drinking more doesn't help and you have any of these symptoms, get urine checked.

Usually nothing: If it's concentrated, the odors of things you've eaten are likely to be detectable. Some folks can make their urine smell like skunk be eating asparagus.
