A member asked:

Why do babies get anemia and how do i know if my baby is anemic?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Iron deficiency: The most common cause of anemia in children is iron deficiency anemia (ida). This is almost always caused by diet issues. If your baby is starting to eat foods rich in iron, this usually prevents ida. If a baby was solely breastfed (a good thing), they are at a little higher risk of ida if they weren't supplemented with iron drops. The only way to know for sure is for your doc to check.
