A member asked:

Is there a downside to having regular (3 times per year) caudal block injections?

Risks vs benefits : If you don't have better alternatives for your current problem and the block is providing good benefit (pain control etc..), then you are accepting the benefits and risks of the procedure--infection and bleeding are most concerning complications. Also side effects of excess steroids, especially if you have diabetes, bleeding disorder etc...So, consult doc and ask lots of questions. Good luck.

Not if it helps you: Many of the patients who receive these injections for management of their chronic back pain enjoy improved function and diminished pain for years and can benefit from additional procedures for prolonged relief
