Leave them alone: Simple avoidance of further picking will allow excoriations to do what they are trying to do: heal. Although i will admit that stopping the practice is not easy. I tell patients to apply plain vaseline when you feel the urge to pick. That way you are still doing something, just not something traumatic to the skin.
