Many causes: It need not be a strep (streptococcal) infection to cause this cluster of symptoms. A significant upper respiratory infection that effects the mouth, throat, bronchi and lungs can be caused by many different pathogens be they viral or bacterial. An md can help you find the source of infection and prescribe the correct course of treatment (if viral, antibiotics will be of no help primarily).

Viral infection?: Your symptoms could indicate a primary outbreak of herpes. The lymph nodes swelling is the body fighting an infection. The lip and mouth sores breaking out can be painful and making it difficult to eat. Viruses can cause a fever, too. There is no cure for the virus, you may only take pain meds, place ointment on lips, use numbing rinse for mouth, benedryl for inflamation, take lysine, and rest.
