A member asked:

I just find out last night a hard lump grow on my upper gums the size of a 2 peas and it's painless...what it could be?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Uncertain...: Most hard lumps on the gums represent an extra growth of bone-- sometimes referred to as an "exostosis" or "torus". However, not all hard lumps are tori, and a conclusive diagnosis must take into account more than just texture or consistency. A formal professional assessment by your dentist will be required to settle the issue.
