Not the solution: Allergy injections are indicated for the treatment of environmental allergies, asthma triggered by allergies and severe stinging insect allergies. Hives are not treated with allergy injections, but instead by antihistamines. The ige level by itself doesn't need to be "treated." shots are not the solution.

Depends on trigger: If the episodes of hives were caused by an allergen found on allergy testing (cat, for example), then allergy shots will reduce his sensitivity to that allergen. If the cause is not known, then most allergists recommend a daily antihistamine like Cetirizine to prevent future episodes.
