Need an allergist: To answer your question whether the cat could be making your asthma worse, you need to see an allergist and get allergy tested to cat. Since you are having trouble with your asthma and your inhaler is not helping, see your doctor as soon as you can so you can get your breathing under control. You most likely need a change in your asthma medications.

Get checked out: The first step is to see an allergist to get tested; there is no reason to get rid of the cat if you're not allergic to it. Whether it is the cat or not, your allergist will be able to make recommendations to reduce your symptoms, and will then be able to discuss how to deal with this over the long term to prevent your symptoms from coming back.
