Fairly soon: Enbrel (etanercept) generally starts to work within 2 or 3 weeks after initiating it. It may take as long as 3-4 months to reach its maximum benefit.

4 - 12 weeks: The biologic agents, like Enbrel (etanercept) are in the group of agents that inhibit tnf. These can be used either as monotherapy or in combination with dmard (ie. Methotrexate).
