A member asked:

If both partners are clean and std free, is it safe to do a bj without a condom?

Really STD free?: The question of safety comes down to whether you really know your partner is std free. Do they have other partners? How long ago were they tested? Which stds were they actually tested for? If you knew the answer 100% to these questions, sex would be safe. The problem is, you don't know for sure. Use a condom to be safe.

No: Assuming you both were checked for all stds (and that's a big assumption), you must worry about type 1 herpes; the cause of fever blisters. About 60% of new genital herpes is type 1, and many people who carry this virus shed it without symptoms;they get no fever blisters, but can infect others.
