No: "jaw cracking" is a sign/symptoms of a problem with the movement of your tempromandibular joint (tmj). You may need a bite adjustment, nightguard or other applicance to relieve your symptoms. You may also have arthritis of the joint. A dental exam can help answer your question.

No, but: No but cracking of the jaw suggests a TMJ or jaw joint problem. If you're doing it as a habit. you're destined for jaw problems. See TMJ expert for advice. Any dentist can be a TMJ expert with the proper training and experience. Most commonly, oral surgeons, prosthodontists, and orofacial pain specialists. Ask your MD, your dentist and your dental society for referrals.
