Rx are best: The only folk / otc remedy that works is benzoyl peroxide. The oral contraceptive pill can often clear a woman who wants and can take it. I've had good results with topical Clindamycin with perhaps a retinoic acid derivative if there are blackheads. A systemic antibiotic as appropriate is the next step, and dermatologists can write for the very strong stuff.
