AAPD Recomends: Avoid nursing children to sleep or putting anything other than water in their bed-time bottle. Also, learn the proper way to brush and floss your child's teeth. Take your child to a pediatric dentist regularly to have his/her teeth and gums checked. The first dental visit should be scheduled by your child's first birthday.

Follow One Rule: Never put a child to bed at nap-time or night-time with a bottle containing anything other then plain water. If they are getting enough nutrition during the day while they are awake they don't need anything extra at nap-time and night-time.

No sugary drinks: The best way to prevent baby bottle tooth decay is to make sure that you dont place sugary drinks in the bottle and dont let a baby sleep with even milk products in the bottle. If you need something in there at bedtime best to use plain water.
