Are braces considered a cosmetic?

Not Always: There are many indications to have orthodontic braces. Esthetic appearance is only one of them.

During treatment, no: Depending on how you view yourself in braces, they can be of no concern, mildly irritating cosmetically or you can hate the look of them. The end result is what matters, and as to that: they create an incredibly cosmetic positive change. A beautiful smile is really something special, and not just a small cosmetic change. It can light up a room!
