It depends.: After a root canal, you can eat on the tooth once it is comfortable and protected w/ a restoration. After an extraction, eat on the other side for several days so the clot in the socket is not dislodged.

A few days to a week: It may take as long as a week. Start with soft bland foods. Work your way up to normal food in a week. Take vit esterc 1000mg with breakfast and dinner x 2 weeks to speed up healing.
