Possible causes: Many things can cause this. Commonly, dry eye, allergy, and blepharitis (eyelid inflammation or infection) can create a burning sensation. Conjunctivitis (pink eye) can also cause burning. Exposure to airborne irritants (dust, chlorine) can also be a cause. If unsure, see an eye doctor to make a diagnosis.

Dry eye: Try artificial tears, warm compresses, ointment at night, and fish oil supplements. If no improvement, see an eye doctor.
