Artificial tears: Burning can come from a number of common eye conditions such as dry eye and/or blepharitis. Over the counter aftificial tears (refresh, optive, theratears, systane are good brands) may be helpful. If there is no improvement seek an eye exam.

Lubricate them: Burning eyes is almost always caused by a decrease in the production of or an imbalance in the concentration of the chemicals making up natural tears. Artificial tears both add moisture to the eye and restore the chemical balance. But tears alone may not prevent the burning. Occasionally, medications and other treatments will provide greater relief. See an eye doctor if it persists even with tears.

Dry eyes, blepharitis: Dry eyes in itself can cause burning. Usually articial tears and warm compresses help. Sometimes overgrowth of bacteria on eyelashes can cause burning. Cleaning your eyelashes with cotton tip soaked in warm water twice a day may help...If the symptoms are severe, i suggest getting it looked at by your doctor.
