No: There is no medicine that can get rid of a pterygium. It must be surgically removed.

Unlikely: Pterygia form from degenerative changes to the conjunctiva, or skin of the eye. The standard treatment to eliminate the ptergyium is surgery.

Pterygium CoconutOil: Coconut oil does not cure. Pterygium: common, abnormal growth of clear covering (conjunctiva) of eye's white part (sclera) over the cornea (window of the eye). If severe & causing discomfort or red, it can be removed w/ surgery. It is generally benign. It is due to excess sun/UV exposure. Prevention is key remedy. Avoid sun (sunglasses, hat); avoid smoking. Not effective: Pterygia are a benign growth which sometimes will exuberantly march across the cornea and affect the vision. They can sometimes get quite red and irritate the eye.If the vision is threatened they must be surgically excised. There is no evidence to suggest that coconut oil will have any effect on this lesion.
