TMJ: Usually tmj. Temperomandibular joint dysfunction. Could be arthritis due to other cause or be unrelated to the joint ( your parotid gland and several important nerves are close by.).

Varies: Need clinical and x-ray image examination to be much help. Certainly it is your joint/muscle/ligament/disc complex , but need more hands-on evaluation. See your Dentist. Have bite checked. Do you have wisdom teeth in contact, are you missing teeth, are you opening unusually wide, chewing very tough or hard foods (sugar cane ?) ??Good luck.
