TMJ SPASM!!: Sounds like a TMJ spasm. You can try otc meds like aleve (naproxen). Or get your dds to phone in a muscle relaxant rx. Stop chewing gum, eat soft foods avoid yawning. Try cold compresses or sometimes hot compresses. If your dentist can't see you, a schooled physical therapist may help. However, beyond a one time only episode, treatments range from palliative to orthodontics to full mouth rehab.

Jaw and Muscle: It appears that you have a serious TMJ and muscle dysfunction that causes these muscles to go into a spasm and the jaw joint (TMJ) to be misaligned. You seriously need treatment from a dentist that is very skilled at treating tmj. Only about 5% of dentist are really good in this realm in that they are very familiar with multiple treatment options to select from based on the patient needs.
