Pancreatitis: Pancreatitis is a disorder which can lead to abdominal pain and back pain. The most common types are biliary and alcohol related. Gallstone pancreatitis is associated with sludge or stones within the gallbladder. An abdominal ultrasound is a good place to begin evaluation.

Many things: Pain in the abdomen that radiates to the back is fairly common and can occur in many abdominal problems. These include gallblader problems, pancreas problems, and problems with the kidneys and ureter. The best approach would be to see your doctor to get a detailed history and physical exam to determine the cause.
