Abnormal lab: Antinuclear antibodies may be associated with autoimmune diseases, as if your own body were attacking itself. Antinulear antibodies can be seen in such diseases as lupus. This serologic test is, however, very nonspecific. This means that, taken alone, no diagnosis can be made with certainty. The incidence of a positive serology increases with age.
