See below: Ampicillin and Flagyl is an inadequate antibiotic choice because so many e. Coli and other intestinal gram neg bacteria are resistant to ampicillin. Cipro (ciprofloxacin) or levoquin plus Flagyl would be a better choice for out patient treatment. Your diarrhea suggests possible clostridium difficile toxin induced diarrhea/colitis. See your doctor and have your stool checked for c.Difficile toxin.
