No simple answer: The cause of pimples is unknown. A pore collapses on itself and blocks sebum (oil) from escaping, it is not fully understood why this process takes place in one sebaceous gland versus another. Acne is at least in part a hormonal disease. Acne symptoms start only after adequate levels of hormones are present during puberty. Genetics and stress are believed to be involved as well.
