A member asked:

What is jersey finger and how is it treated?

A doctor has provided 1 answer
Dr. Ron Stark answered

A torn flexor tendon: A jersey finger occurs when the flexor tendon tears off of the bone at the base of the distal phalanx. This frequently occurs in football when a jersey is grabbed making a tackle. Hence the name. This is a serious injury, and should be evaluated and treated by a qualified hand surgeon. It is time-sensitive, and prompt assessment within days is ideal.
