Need more info: Are you talking about the area of your jaw joint? This would be the only source of noise when talking. You may have a temporomandibular joint disorder. See a dental professional who is trained in TMJ diagnosis and treatment.

Possible TMJ issue: The joints of the jaw can create a grating noise while moving if the cartilage is damaged or missing. Since the joints are neighboring your ears, hearing the grating noise is common. If you have no pain, then there isn't much to be done, many people function quite well in this situation for years.

TMJ: Sounds like you have a chronic (but not painful) TMJ disorder where the disk has degenerated and you ahve bone on bone contact. No problem if no pain or other jaw limitations. See an oral surgeon to confirm.
