A member asked:

What is the difference between healthy cells and cancer cells?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Abnormal signaling..: Normal cells can grow and divide, but they do so in a manner that is not detrimental to a person. When they receive cellular signaling that says "stop dividing", they listen. Cancer cells have lost this control. Usually cancer cells acquire mutations that both drive the cells to divide while at the same time cause them to cease responding to signals that say stop dividing.
