What is the normal body temperature of a child and a adult?

98.8 Degrees F: 98.8 degrees fahrenheit (or 37 degrees celsius) is the "textbook" normal temperature. However, individuals can have slightly lower or higher normal temperatures. Also, our body temperature naturally fluctuates throughout a 24-hour period (circadian rhythm).

Method: There can also be small variations in what is considered a normal temperature, based on how one obtains it (e.g., tympanic, oral, axillary, temporal or rectal).

Adults 101: According to webmd...In most adults, an oral temperature above 100°f (37.8°c) or a rectal or ear temperature above 101°f (38.3°c) is considered a fever. A child has a fever when his or her rectal temperature is 100.4°f (38°c) or higher. All complaints of fever should be taking seriously despite what the thermometer shows. Analgesics lower the temperature & there is variation among different techs.
