A member asked:

What other possible adhd meds are there/drug that functions the same as adderall, (dextroamphetamine and racemic amphetamine) any kind outside the standard prescribed meds that can be used?

Adder all: Adderall (dextroamphetamine and racemic amphetamine) is derived from dextro amphetamine and amphetamine. They were Dexedrine , still available , and benzedrine, not. Desoxyn is available , methamphetamine , but rarely rx'd. If you seek nonamphetamine stimulants, methylphenidate formulations are plentiful, Ritalin was the first. There is a new med, vyanase, a prodrug amphetamine, that only gets active after ingestion and metabolic breakdown.

Several: There are many stimulant class medications. Even some new ones, just released. As for outside the standard medications, i would talk about this with your doctor, but exhausting your possibilities with what is currently a 'labeled use' is better.
