Vascularity issues : Yes, by definition sickle cell anemia is a vascularity issue. With low vascularity to the gums that a primarily supplying blood to the bone/ implant site, there would be a great cause of implant failure.

Need consult: Patients with sickle cell anemia can sickle shape rbcs, which effects blood flow. Patients with sickle cell anemia have reported to develop osteomyelitis, and osteonecrosis, which will result in implant failure. It is thus recommended to have medical clearance from the treating physician to determine if dental implants can be placed.
