How long would someone wait after smoking a cigarette before nursing a baby again?

No set time: There is no real set time frame that one can refer to prior to nursing a baby. While you smoke, there are particulates from your smoke that can deposit on your clothes and be passively transmitted onto the baby. That can cause respiratory issues in babies. Studies have shown the risk of sudden infant death syndrome is greater in household with smokers.

Never :-): If you went through the trouble to stop smoking for pregnancy, don't start again. Babies and children living in smoking environments are more likely to have sids, ear infections, wheezing, and asthma. When they are sick everyone misses sleep, work, and school. They whine and cry. You'll be healthier and happier not smoking!
