Recurrence risks: The genetic influence on congenital heart disease is not as straightforward as passing eye color or blood type. A parent with 1 chd baby has a risk of about 4% of having a second with any form of chd (rarely if ever the same). If both parents had any form of chd the risk increases to 8%. There are some rare syndromes with a higher risk rate. A geneticist could help you identify you personal risks.
