Thyroid removal: Surgical removal for thyroid cancer can cause low parathyroid hormone, bleeding, scarring on neck, voice box paralysis.

Thyroid cancer cure: If you have a lump that is cancer or suspicious for cancer on a biopsy, thyroid surgery may save your life if done early. If a good biopsy was not done, find a specialist to do it. The most important thing to prevent the 'cons' is to have a surgeon that does thyroid surgery very frequently. There are few other 'pros' to having thyroid surgery other than for cancer.
