Depends on the cause: This could be due to trauma or due to infections. . Have it evaluated by a professional to get the appropriate treatment. By leaving it alone it may get worse.

If it is a : Hematoma it could be drained, if it is fungus, then antifungal medication, if it is a bone spur, that can be shaven, ...Depends what is causing the pain....
