Melena: What endoscopy did u have—colon? Esophagus/stomach? Do u take iron supplement? Pepto-bismol? Beets? Nsaids? Melena suggests digested blood from upper GI source, but many foods/meds/supplements can produce black stools. Doc may order ct/ MRI &/or bloodwork to check for cancer recurrence or other causes. If only sigmoid checked, need entire colon & esophagus/ stomach checked.

Check for GI bleed.: The tarry black stools most likely mean you have a GI bleed, more likely upper, but can be anywhere. You should get checked up on your cancer, and a full check of your GI tract is in order to locate the bleed. A colonoscopy would help to do this and rule out any tumor in this part of the bowel. See your doctor to check up on your bowel cancer and find and repair that GI bleed asap.
