Hygiene: Children unfortunately are constantly swapping germs with each other, when they play, at school, day care, etc. The key is to try to establish a routine of hand washing to help cut down on the transmission of the germs associated with colds. Don't forget to do the same yourself. That too will help. Good luck, parenting is a constant adventure.

Facts of life: While breast feeding can be protective for some respiratory infections it does not prevent them all . Most kids seem to acquire a cold every month or so during their first two years. If they grow and develop normally and don't get more serious infections like pneumonia or resistant ear infections, probably normal.
