Do prenatal vitamins require a prescription?

No: In fact you can get everything you need from an over-the-counter adult multivitamin or two flintstones chewables.

No: There are perfectly good prenatal vitamins available over the counter. Just be sure to check with your doctor that there are adequate levels of vitamins such as folate (folic acid) in them. Also make sure they are labeled as prenatal vitamins...Other vitamins may have concentrations of certain components that are either too high to take or not recommended during pregnancy.
