Yes: Growth hormone is important for the development of the bones of the face. Persons with growth hormone excess have characteristic facial features including coarsening of their facial features and enlargement of the jaw. These changes can also be seen in a much milder form in children who receive growth hormone for growth hormone deficiency. Children with untreated growth hormone deficiency often have a condition known as midface hypoplasia where the bones in the middle of the face do not develop to be as fully formed as children with normal growth hormone secretion.
