How is a miscarriage "dated"...by the 1st day of spotting, the heaviest day on which most of the tissue is passed, or the last day of bleeding?

No date: In medicine a miscarriage isn't generally dated. As physician we don't look at the date in which it occurred but rather how many a patient has experienced and generally how far along they were when it occurred. But if the dating is important an ultrasound may help date the miscarriage.
