Depression: This really depends on the type of depression and the cause if any. It is well established that depression has a higher suicide rate. Depression must be evaluated and then the treatment course planned. This may or may not include medication.

Depression: Yes, it can be treated without meds. Psychotherapy can be very effective for some types of recurrent depression. Major depression with suicidal ideation should be assessed by a psychiatrist for medication as an option. Yes: There are many ways to resolve depression. Some simply pass with time and change of circumstances if it is not severe. Self-help practices, therapy, medication, ect, and vagus nerve stimulators are other ways. If it keeps coming and going, or recurrent depression, best to get treatment to overcome this suffering.
