Vaseline Ointment: The best way to keep a scab moist is to apply vaseline ointment (aquaphor) & cover the scab with a band-aid. This will loosen the scab and allow is to fall of more quickly. It also heals the wound much faster. However, the best wound care advise is to keep the wound moist with ointment and not allow it to scab in the first place. When a scab forms, healing cells are killed & healing is delayed.
