There are many: Subtypes with both diseases, but in general lymphoma involves the nodes and leukemia is more typically dominant in the bone marrow and bloodstream. The more common acute leukemia in adults is a myeloid, not a lymphoid, process.

Site of origination: There are some leukemias that have a similar lymphoma. These involve the same cell type, but there is a difference. Leukemia starts in the bone marrow. Lymphoma starts in a lymph node. The diagnosis of leukemia involves bone marrow biopsy, lymphoma involves lymph node biopsy. Some lymphomas (hodgkin, anaplastic large cell, and others) that do not have similar leukemias.
