No: The flu is caused by a virus (the influenza virus) which is not susceptible to anti-bacterial antibiotics such as cefdinir.

No, but...: Influenza is a virus. However, Cefdinir is an antibiotic- it is not an antiviral drug. Keep in mind though, that it can be prescribed if a secondary bacterial infection such as a pneumonia occurs after a primary influenza infection. For example, a pt may present with cough, green sputum, shortness of breath and chest congestion shortly after getting over a bad cold.
